Andrew Tinkler - Bass / Baritone
was a chorister at Westminster Abbey and later studied at the Royal college of Music. Since 1991 Andrew has been a member of English National Opera {ENO} where he has sung many roles as well as his duties in the chorus. 
At ENO he has sung the Shepherd in Pelleas, An Official in Barber of
Seville, Border Guard in Handmaids Tale, 2nd Mate in Billy Budd,
Officer in Boheme and Chief Soothsayer in Vestale. Also Sarastro and
Colline for the ENO Bayllis programme. Operatic roles include
Collatinus in The Rape of Lucretia, Pistol in Falstaff,the Abbot in
Curlew River, Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Ferrando in II Trovatore, Don
Magnifico in La Cenerentola, Commendatore and Masetto in Don Giovanni,
Sarastro and the Speaker in Magic Flute and Basilio in Barber of
Seville. Recent
oratorio includes Christus St. John Passion, Messiah, The Creation,The
Dream of Gerontius, Faure’s Requiem, Verdi’s Requiem, Rossini’s Stabat
Mater and L’enfance du Christ.
Andrew has featured on recordings, television and radio broadcasts and
has also sung with The Academy of Ancient Music, The Richard Hickox
Singers, The Addington Singers, The English Concert and The Ambrosian
Opera Chorus.
Recent
engagements include Superintendent Budd, Albert Herring, Opera de
Bauge, France and Sarastro, Magic Flute and Polythemus, Acis and
Galetea, Father - Coffee Cantata, and Basilio the Barber of Seville in St Albans Chamber Opera and Judas Macabeaus for Harpenden Choral Society. Last year he sang at the Globe in a production of the Tempest If
you listen carefully to the Charmin toilet roll commercial you will
hear Andrew singing the role of the Bear [ch ch ch ch Charmin' }. He also duets with Hugh Grant in Love Actually [very briefly}
Andrew is married to Anne and they have three reasonably behaved children Eloise, Stanley and Alf.
